BEANS:
- 1 lb dry beans = 6 cups cooked beans or 12 servings of bean soup
- 45 children
- 1 cup per child at 1 meal a day = 45 cups of cooked beans or 7.5 cups dry beans
- Sold in 220lb bag of dry beans will last about 14 days
- Cost of beans per day: $8.15; per child per day:$.18
- Cost of 2 bags of beans per month = $244 USD.
MILK:
- 1 gallon = 16 cups of milk
- Three cups per child per day = 135 cups of milk = 8.5 gallons a day
- 1 gallon costs $2.55 USD x 8.5 gallons = $21.52 USD a day; $.48 per child
