This organization was founded in February 2019 by Musisi Gerald who grew up in a poor and needy family, became an orphan, an abandoned child. Pastor Nangoli Jimmy, known as Pastor Sureman, was his guide through this time.
At its founding, Elahiston had 13 children, 6 boys and 7 girls. As of now we have a total of 46 needy orphans and village children. We hope to help more children in the future through this program. Currently, the children stay in the program from the time of registration for up to 7 years, unless contradictions are discovered in their registration, or they don’t comply with the policies. The seven-year limit is determined currently by finances. We hope to add on the years when we get more financial support.
The vision of ELAHISTON ORPHANAGE AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION is to be a channel of hope to helpless children, by expressing the love of God to them, making a warm environment to
restore hope, and to produce young responsible citizens.
Our emphasis is on being a Christ-centered, loving home to all the children as we raise them.
ELAHISTON's mission is to teach this generation to fear and serve God.
We focus on promoting education, feeding and clothing needy children, and providing health and economic development.
1. Loving every person for excellence.
2. Restoring hope in the lives of the African needy children.
3. Being a responsible citizen in the community.
4. Respect the equality of all people.
5. Create a warm environment and good education for the hopeless children.
6. Be a mother to the motherless and a father to the fatherless.
1. To produce psychosocial therapy within self-help groups and self-reliant skills. The children are taught how to relate with others, and how to deal with their emotions at all times of life.
2. To build capacities of poor, vulnerable families to be able to respond to socio-economic challenges.
3. To provide quality education to the poor and needy children of Africa, and to provide formal education/vocational skills training for them.
4. Currently the children attend different schools in the area. We help to pay their school fees.
5. In our own development programs, our children have received goats and pigs, helping them learn how to raise animals. We monitor this project throughout all stages.
6. Also, we can teach them livelihood skills such as making bags, tailoring, hairdressing, driving, and more.
7. To restore hope to the hopeless in the local community. We look forward to having our own schools, which will be helping our children grow Spiritually as they and their families and community are exposed to the love and redeeming Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We conduct prayers every time we meet, both Christians and Muslims. We do not reject non-Christians as we show them God’s love, teaching all children how Jesus loves the World and gave His life for all of us.
8. To feed the needy children, transforming them into people that will grow the community.
1. There is no fee to register a child
2. Total orphans and partial orphans who are needy shall be given priority.
3. Children shall be between 3 and 17 years old.
4. For children not staying at the school, the distance from the school to the child’s home shall not exceed 5km so that the child is able to come for school activities whenever he/she is needed.
5. Not more than 5 children from one family shall be registered.
6. Children who have both parents who are unable to meet the basic needs of the children shall also be registered. (Highly vulnerable children)
7. There shall not be any segregation of children based on denominational background or Serostatus.
8. Children sponsored by other donor agencies shall not be registered.
9. Every child is entitled to have a file at the school for record keeping.
10. Care givers/parents shall always attend Annual Meetings where they shall be taught child protection and child development.
1. Child mentorship, counseling and guidance.
2. Capacity building and advocacy.
3. HIV/AIDS guidance and prevention.
4. Primary health education (hygiene and nutrition).

ELAHISTON ORPHANAGE AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION believes that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty within the community.
The Mirembe Village Community has a high dropout rate and a lack of schools in the area that feeds into the high unemployment rates in Uganda as a whole.
ELAHISTON plans to open Christian Centered Schools with classes from Nursery through Second Level. This will help alleviate the lack of schools in the area and will give more children an opportunity to go to school. The schools will teach and raise future generations of empowered leaders and good citizens of tomorrow who fear and serve God, hopefully reversing the current high dropout in existing schools in the Mirembe Village community.
Uganda has a high unemployment rate with many young adults unemployed.
ELAHISTON ORPHANAGE AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION plans to combat this with an economic development initiative that will address this issue by tapping into people’s creativity and potential by opening the ELAHISTON TRAINING CENTER.
THE CENTER will use businesspeople, Artisans and skilled laborers to help train Ugandans of all ages, educational backgrounds, and economic status in both business and physical labor, including but not limited to mechanics, builders, carpenters, joiners, woodworks, cooks, clothiers, and cosmeticians and more. In this, ELAHESTON shall be equipping Ugandans of all ages, educational backgrounds, and economic status in both business and practical skills.
Access to quality health services has been pinpointed as a challenge that the people of this community face. Mirembe Village has no Medical Center and Kangulumira Sub - County has only one hospital which accommodates a large number of patients on a daily basis. It is a long way away from our community. As a result, it causes many not to get service in tim
ELAHISTON ORPHANAGE AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION PLANS to transform the standards of health care by offering a patient-centered, holistic, and compassionate approach within a ELAHISTON COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTRE that will emphasize the core values of patient care; respect, dignity, integrity, accountability, teamwork and stewardship, sharing the love of Jesus to the Glory of God in all we do.
In the most rural areas of Uganda, access to health care is challenging. In response to the needs of these communities EHAHISTON SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT will be partnering with ELAHISTON COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER and remote village leaders to organize health outreach events.
During health outreach events, social workers and health practitioners will travel to rural areas of Kayunga District to provide free services including malaria and HIV testing, dental check-ups and extractions, prenatal care, nutrition screenings, vaccinations, and counseling.
Currently the Orphanage has only one small building as seen behind the children in the photo below. It needs updating and enlarging to provide for kitchens, dining hall,
and sleeping areas.
Meals are served on disposable plastic plates. The children sit on the ground in groups and eat with their fingers.
Cooking: Cooktop or commercial stove and oven. Large pots for water sterilization, cooking rice, etc., pans for other foods, and utensils for all. Also cutting boards and knives.
Dishwashing system
SANITATION: Toilets. Washrooms with showers and wash basins
Dining Room/Classroom – Folding Tables and chairs. Reusable melamine type plates, tumblers and silverware.
Separate sleeping areas for boys and girls.

To help with the sustainability of the Orphanage and help the people of the community, a farm is propesed as follows:
A large fenced garden plot with irrigation for vegetables and perhaps fruit trees that grow in the regeon. Seeds, etc.
A Chicken Coop and wire enclosed yard for chickens, geese, guinea fowl, etc.

Tractors and other large equipment for plowing, digging, grading, etc.
Rakes, hoes, shovels, clippers, etc.
Aquaponics
solar, wind, and storage units
